What kind of an Ah Ha does it take to finally turn yourself around?
Nothing seemed to get my attention. I knew my body was not happy but I still neglected it. I ate too much. I snacked on the wrong things. And as for exercise – forget it. Until…
Although I'm 76, I want to live a lot more years – 114 or so – but not in the shape I'm in. That was my "ah ha". - that the quality of my life was being dramatically affected by my daily choices. And it stopped me dead in my tracks. I needed to make a different choice immediately.
So I did
Use good health as your personal life insurance
I searched for and found a nutritional program of whole raw foods with a cleansing program and immediately lost ten pounds. But other things started to happen, my knees didn't hurt so much, my skin got soft, my energy was steady without any dips. And I knew I had made the right choice. I'm on this program for life.
What fat cells love about toxins
What I found out was that fat cells love toxins. Well, they don't exactly love them but they rush to surround the toxics to protect your body. So, the more toxins you have the more fat cells are needed to surround them. When you undertake a weekly cleanse/fast day the toxins are cleansed and the fat cells are out of a job. So I do a weekly cleanse day.
I never every thought I would own a pair of skinny jeans
As I continued on my program I lost inches. And one day I went to buy some new jeans. I picked out some that were one size smaller. But then I asked the clerk, "How many inches between sizes?" And she said, "About two." So I picked out jeans two sizes smaller and they fit!!!! I'm not thin yet, not even average size, but I am a whole lot better than I was! And I love my version of skinny jeans. It has been way too long since I felt this good.
Get aware of when you are unaware
Once I established good eating habits and my body was being well nourished on a daily basis, I got to notice the times I ate when I wasn't hungry. It was usually when I was bored or tired. That awareness helped me make other choices. I ate a lighter snack, or drank a cup of tea, or distracted myself by doing something else. I also started eating off of smaller dishes. A salad plate became my dinner plate. I bought very small dishes to hold my snacks. My portions gradually became smaller and smaller so that now a full dinner plate is clearly too much for me. Nourishment is in the eye of the beholder – you.
